Class Descriptions
Reformer Level 1-2
Level 1-2 is for clients with no or very limited experience with Pilates and for those who have specific injuries/limitations. The primary focus is to learn the basic Pilates principles which include: breathing, balance, muscle development, technique and to learn the exercises and equipment.
We will introduce you to your abdominals and teach you how to move so that you feel every exercise. Pilates is about quality not quantity.
Modifications will be given for those with injuries.
Reformer Level 3-5
Level 3-5 is a full body workout with a heavy traditional Pilates emphasis. This class utilizes different props and equipment each week. Your back and abdominal strength will be involved in virtually every exercise.
Modifications will be given for those with injuries but you MUST know your pilates basics.
*Prerequisites: Must have taken at least five level 1-2 classes at Kelp Pilates unless you are familiar with how to adjust your own equipment and know the names of classical pilates exercises.
Flexibility - All Levels
Are tight muscles preventing you from moving with ease or comfort? Are you looking to regain some of that flow and movement you used to have? Are you sore from sitting or standing too much? Or are you wishing to improve your athletic skill with a greater range of motion? We've got you!
In these classes you will increase your flexibility, range of motion, stabilization, and posture with static and dynamic stretching. This class is ideal for all bodies - to compliment a workout routine, recover from injury, or to help release the body from lack of movement (like sitting at a desk all day).
You will be guided through the three crucial elements of developing flexibility:

dynamic stretching to build full range of motion so you can do your life with ease,

static holds to open your body even deeper,
-
intuitive movement to tune into your body and feel which areas need the most attention.
Dance Reformer - All Levels
Looking to increase your extension? Need support with balance or turns? How about strengthening your ankles and feet for pointe work? This is is. We do all of this and more.
This class uses jumpboards, the infinity bar, weights, and other props to build stamina, increase flexibility, and increase athletic strength. We will target specific muscle groups needed for dance - which is appropriate for all styles of dance, and ALL ATHLETES!
Men's Pilates - All Levels
Men's Pilates welcomes men and is open to all genders and masculine presenting. It is a Classical Pilates class geared toward building strength and stamina with a focus on issues specific to men; tight hip flexors, asymmetrical strength, back pain, and general aches and pains.
Pilates helps counteract the imbalances that can arise from overtraining certain muscle groups. Its focus on building deep core strength and promoting balance throughout the body can help reduce the risk of injuries commonly associated with muscular imbalances. Additionally, Pilates offers benefits such as improved flexibility, strength, and even mood. Integrating it into a comprehensive fitness plan to contribute to overall wellness and injury prevention.

Athletes Reformer - All Levels
Want more out of your golf rotation? Swim shoulders shortening your stroke? Tennis elbow limiting your game? Have you reached a plateau with lifting, cycling, throwing or running?
This Pilates class is designed to help shift you out of pain, and into movement and speed. Or swing. Or weight. Or balance. We know bodies and we can help.
As with all classes, your back and abdominal strength will be involved in virtually every exercise

3rd Sunday Sound Bowls
Accompanied by the sounds of crystal singing bowls, rain sticks, chimes and other instruments as you travel deeper into your inner realms of consciousness. The profound level of deep relaxation that this class offers, assists the body’s natural ability to cleanse, heal, and restore.

Back Pain/Classical Reformer - All Levels
This class is a full body workout with a heavy traditional Pilates emphasis to support and move to remedy back pain.
While your back and abdominal strength will be involved in virtually every exercise, you will be supported and modifications will be given for any injuries.
*Important that you are cleared by your doctor to participate
